Webbing-Pattern 70 webbing

Post by richardtl »

Type 2 Pattern 70 skeleton webbing. I must ask John Lamont if this is correct. From what I've seen used by police units.

The various P70 ammo pouches (Thanks for the pic Francois)

Oldest on the right with R1 mags, intermediate that could take both R1 and R4 mags, and on the left the longer later R4 pouch.

Here is something interesting. Thanks Craig for spotting and recognising the significance and letting me have it to share.
A standard P70 SADF webbing yoke. This webbing was superceded in the 80s by the SADF P83 nylon, vest and other brown "webbing". Yet see the attached label for the submission by Specifico for a contract. Dated 1986. Was this being made still to equip the Commandos/Citizen forces as a cheaper option. I'll also post to our forum for prosperity.
It would be interesting to know.

Some interesting feedback from Mike Du Toit himself
"Unfortunately, there were never "drawing specs" done for P70 and manufacturer's were given "samples" to follow. This proved to be a big mistake as samples were some times lost so new samples made and mistakes started creeping in. The final P70 manufacture was only about 85/90% accurate against the original P70."

SAP P70 roll cover. Here is a SAP roll cover which differs from the std one in terms of size and spacing between straps to match the Dclips on the belt. I'll post some pics of the 2 types side by side.
