SADF 1960's uniforms

Prior to the 1970 acceptance of the NUTRIA "Browns" the SADF uniforms were fairly different.

This thread is to show these.

The bunny jacket was used both as part of the battle dress and for "step outs". These are hard to come by now due to "SA collectors??" selling them to the ZCC for inflated prices.

These bunny jacket was part of the SADF P65 battle dress.

These were the ties worn with the bunny jacket and early SADF 4 pocket step out tunics.


Made from wool and note button holes on reverse side.

Many were SKIPPER manufacturer

The below is one of the variants of the accompanying shirt, normally made from a polyester type material


The below are the rank brassards worn with the shirt, note the German style NCO ranks worn in the 60's and early 70's.

SADF 60's socks worn with boots, normally a blue grey or grey and wool gloves for winter.

These are the accompanying BD trousers for the bunny jacket, made from the similar, wool "denim". So these are the trousers of the P65 battle dress.

These are the "pink" trousers worn with the 4 pocket tunic or bunny jacket for smart step outs.





These are the braces used with the 60's BD trousers and pinks.


Some are ink stamped with the UM but these have a UDF stamp in the leather, so are an early type
